Top 5 Baby Items for New Mamas!

I have tried a lot of different products being a nanny for so long. Therefore, when I became a mother I had a pretty good idea of what I wanted to purchase. It was still a little overwhelming deciding some of the bigger items but I knew a general direction at least. I know quite a few new mamas and mamas to be that have no idea where to even start let alone the basics to buy! So I put together my top 5 new mama products to help! Everyone told me I didn’t need much in the newborn stage but I still wanted to have everything prepared. That being said, If you are in a situation where you can’t  get it all before your little ones arrive these 5 things plus some diapers should definitely help!

#1 - Lou Lou Swaddle Blankets

In my opinion these are the best swaddle blankets out there. They are on the pricey side but 100% worth it! My daughter was a little escape artist and pulled her arms right out of the ones that zipped or had Velcro. She honestly hated being swaddled until I tried these. They also come in a multitude of colors and patterns! It’s an extremely soft jersey material and they are super stretchy so you can get them in a good swaddle that won’t  come undone in the middle of the night. I also like to use them for a swaddle bath! They are perfect for when they are newborns! #2 - The Shusher

If you only buy one thing I recommend you purchase this! Oh my goodness this was a lifesaver with my daughter! She hated the car from birth to about 8 weeks but if I had the shusher she went right to sleep. It’s a new moms best friend because in the exhaustion you don’t have to continue to shush as you are barely staying awake. It does it for you! It has 2 different timer settings 15 minutes and 30 minutes. You can control the volume and its super compact. The shusher fit  inside my purse or the side pocket of my diaper bag. It runs on batteries so it doesn’t need plugged in. It was overall one of the best products I put on my registry! 

#3 - Wubbanub Pacifiers

My daughter has tried a lot of different pacifiers. I think every baby has their own preference of pacifiers. I do think these are a wonderful choice though! It is the same pacifiers they use in the hospitals for newborns but with a tiny stuffed animal attached. My daughter loved it because it made it easier to hold, it had a snuggly friend, and she learned to put the pacifier back in her mouth on her own a lot faster with these. I will say I don’t use these for bed time due to the stuffed animal. #4 - Honest Brand Organic All-Purpose Balm

This balm is incredible! It works on everything such as cuts from their little finger nails, diaper rash, dry skin patches, I even used it for cradle cap. It’s a  like a miracle in a tube for first time mamas! Emma had extremely long fingernails at birth and scratched her face quite often the first couple of weeks no matter how hard I tried to keep them short. It would clear them up in 1 to 2 days without a trace! I didn’t even buy diaper rash cream. Even the slightest hint of redness I would put this all-purpose balm on and it would disappear. I also love that is organic. I am big on making sure she has the best products on her skin. As I am sure you all are too! It also lasts a good amount of time, I’ve only purchased 2 tubes since Emma was born 5 months ago. I keep one in the diaper bag and one in the house. 

#5 - Baby Lounger Pillow

I thought this was a better cost efficient lounger than the snuggle me organic or the dockatot. Now you can let you child sleep in the dockatot or the snuggle me organic. They don’t recommend that babies sleep in the lounger pillow but, occasionally, Emma fell asleep in it and I would just stay with her and watch to make sure she didn’t roll over. It’s a great pillow to have in the beginning to set them down on to go to the bathroom, grab a snack, take out the dog, and so on. Short little instances where you need to put them down for a minute but don’t want to lay them on the floor or in the bassinet so you can still see them. I got her the pink pillow with the crown but they have many different colors and patterns available.  

Now of course you need diapers and wipes along with these 5 wonderful products. Every baby is different and needs different things but these are the diapers and wipes I use. I went back and forth between pampers swaddlers and honest brand diapers due to cost but they both worked wonderful! I love the water wipes because you can you use them on just about anything including their face. It also prevents diaper rash due to no chemicals being used!
